Evidence-Based, Compassionate Psychotherapy

Every session customized to meet your unique needs and goals

A believer in the power of talk therapy, I became a therapist to help people by providing a critical, often unmet need—the experience of being acknowledged, seen, heard, and understood. Bringing compassion to my work means meeting clients where they are, without judgment, through deep listening and being fully present. Many of my referrals come from clients who have shared the difference this experience has made for them.

My Background & Approach

With more than 25 years of clinical experience in private practice, Harvard teaching hospitals, inpatient and outpatient psychiatry, and community mental health centers, I have developed an in-depth understanding of the challenges people face.

Every session is customized, blending multiple approaches to meet your individual needs. Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) is at the heart of my work, helping you develop greater self-awareness and a more compassionate relationship with yourself. I also integrate CBT, mindfulness practices, and other approaches depending on what will be most helpful to you.

Each session involves learning, reflection, and real-time practice. By developing a curious, non-judgmental inner observer, you can become more aware of changes in your body, thoughts, and emotions—and a more active participant in your own growth.

We are all on a path—works in progress—with the capacity for change. Through exploration and practice, you can build confidence, choose healthier behaviors, develop greater self-awareness, and create a “well” of inner resources to draw upon when facing difficult emotions and life’s challenges—helping you meet them differently.

“Compassion is not a virtue—it is a commitment. It’s not something we have or don’t have—it’s something we choose to practice.” — Brené Brown

My goal is for you to feel heard, acknowledged and understood from the first time we speak. Therapy isn’t easy. It’s about learning to face emotional challenges with courage and wisdom, learning to be ‘comfortable with being uncomfortable’, while you develop inner resources and strengths in a safe, trusting therapeutic relationship.
